We spent hours just floating and lightly paddling as the kids floated along behind us. Until we got to just before the Phon Don take out. There is a fast moving current right through there and it starts out shallow but it gets pretty deep. My partner had our dog with her on the sit on top and when she hit the current after bottoming out she went right into a tree and dumped, scared her and the dog, all her stuff includingg the kayak floated down to me as I had managed to pull off to the side just past the tree. If it hadn't been for some huys partying on the side of the river bank, she would still be standing their as I couldn't get mine and her kayak up stream, the current was extremely strong and very hard to walk against with all the gear. To make a long story short we made it to Phon Don but one of our cars was at the bridge and the other was down river further at the last take out before the damm. A couple that had came down river after us was so nice to help us get our gear out and up to the top of the parking area, and they gave me a ride to my truck at the bridge. It just goes to show that there are people out there that can and will go out of their way to help others.
