The Rio Verde starts as the Rio Tomochic and flows north, joining the Rio Papagochic at La Junta to form the Rio Sirupa. Rhe section from the town of Tomochic to Puente Verde near Cocomorachi looks beautiful, with many Class III-IV rapids and a narrow constriction in the Tomochic Gorge. The Rio Papagochic is also runnable below the reservoir at Presa Abraham Gonzalez when they are releasing water (generally in the fall) and should provide rapids of Class III to III+ difficulty. A short section of this run may also be too narrow for rafts at some water flows.
