This canyon is probably the best run on the entire Sevier River. Highway 89 runs parallel to the river so many options exist here to make runs shorter or longer. The section from Big Rock Candy Mountain area down contains the best whitewater. There is even a local outfitter located across from hoovers. www.alwaysrafting.com .
The hardest rapid is about a mile or so downriver from Big Rock Candy Mountain. At high water some claim this becomes class IV. Most of the time it's a solid class III.
Put in county park north of Big Rock. Other put ins south on flat water. Hoovers is private property, please do not put in there. Take out at the Big Bend below boulder garden rapid is private property. It is signed. Permission granted as long as boater park across highway 89 in large parking area. Do not block or park at takeout. There is a levy road 200 feet to the north of main takeout, there is another take out at the end of the road which doesn't interfere with commercial activity.
