The after work special for Eagle County boaters, Dowd Chute serves up sweet class IV play in a neat little 1 mile package. At lower flows Dowd has great eddy hoping down through, with a mini-pool drop feel. As level rise it becomes continuous waves and holes. Combine it with the Upper Eagle and take out at Avon, or run laps from RiverBend bus stop to the USFS access just south of I-70 towards Minturn. Dowd can also be accessed from Gore Creek from Intermountain or above through Vail. When coming from Vail lookout for the railroad bridge which is water level at higher flows.
