Provo River - Middle Provo (Jordanelle to Deer Creek)

Utah-US

Description

The middle provo runs through the Heber valley between the dam release of Jordanelle reservoir and the inlet to Deer Creek reservoir.  There are multiple access point for the river since this area is fairly well populated.  Make sure to use appropriate access points and avoid private land so this run can remain freely accessible to anglers and river runners.

Since this stretch of river is running through a valley it is not very technical and shallow in many places as it winds it's way towards Provo Canyon.  Keep an eye out for manmade hazards and tree and limb debree.  Unless you catch this run at a very high water flow it's not going to be too pushy so you will have plenty of time to manuever or get out of the water if you need to.

As far as rapids and wild whitewater, this is probably not the run for you (Go further downstream for the Bridal Veil section for something a little more exciting).  However, if you are a beginner or someone wanting to work on skills this is a suitable run.  The middle provo also runs through one of the most scenic valleys in UT with backside views of Mount Timpanogus to the southwest.
