Lochsa River - White Pine (Indian Grave Creek) to Wilderness Gateway Bridge

Just off Highway 12.

Not much parking here but there is access to the heart of the Lost Creek rapid.  Could also be used as a park n play for surfing in Lost creek at the right levels.

Just west of the wilderness gateway bridge is a sizable access area just off the highway.

Large waves and holes possible here.  Rapid is fairly long and contiguous.

Scout from the road or read and run.

Rapid runs around a sharp river right bend. Lot's of holes and since the river turns you have to run the bottom half blind unless you scout.

Scout from the right bank or the road.

Scout to find out where the rocks and holes are.  This rapid runs under the Eagle Mountain Pack Bridge.

Immediately after the upper eagle mountain rapid is the lower one.  At high flows this rapid will blend together so if you screw up in the upper rapid you will swim or float through the lower one.  Lower flows allows some recovery time in between.

Scout when you scout upper eagle mountain rapid.

This rapid gets worse with higher water.  Mainly a continuation of lower eagle mountain rapid.  Calms down at lower flows.

A very narrow section in the river creates a large hole at the bottom right of this rapid.  Hole is big enough to make you think at most levels.

Highly recommended scout from the right bank or the road.

Rapid start just above a sharp left hand turn in the river.  Waves and rapid run for a good distance.

A rocky, holey and pushy rapid at most water levels.  A few pourovers to watchout for pinning.

Rapid at a right hand turn.

2 large rocks form the start of this rapid and then you need to pick your way through the waves and holes

Right bank or from the road

Rocky at low flows, holes and pourovers at high flows.  

Usually lines work far left and center.  This rapid can have some powerful holes and hydraulics.

Recommended scout from right bank.

Narrow and rocky at low water and big holes at high water.

A very long technical rapid. Many believe this to be the hardest rapid on this section.  At high flows this can become very dangerous and possibly unrunnable.

River can't be seen from the road so scout from either bank.

This rapid can surprise you as it's hidden around a left hand turn in the river.

Harder at high water.  Read and run

Nice wavetrain at higher water.

Rapid continues all the way through the bend.  Pushy water wants to slam you into the left bank as the corridor narrows on this turn

A long rapid.  Most runnable area is towards river left.

As the name implies, a bunch of wood debris is found on the right side of this rapid and can be covered and a hazard at high water.

Harder at high water

Again harder at high water with large waves and holes.  Goes away at lower water.

Very large rapid at high water flows and nothing at lower flows

River widens here and require weaving through rocky area.

A large number of fee sites on the south side of the river (cross bridge to get to it).
