The river has much less gradient on this section and takes on a more easygoing feel. Occasional homes can be seen and the road is always not too far from the road. All of this, but the river maintains its remote feel.
This run is mostly class II with a few class III rapids later in the run, at least two of which are scoutable from inside Elkhorn Campground.
