White Springs is the official beginning to the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail. It is 12 miles to the Woods Ferry River Camp. Along the way are great examples of Karst Topography, where the limestone bedrock has been worn away. Additionally, there are some sections of limestone creating shallow shoals, or blockages in the river, depending on recent rainfall. Point Bars make good rest areas, or campsites. These are more common further downstream.
