Diversion Dam #1
|
Located under I-70 shortly into the run. Start left (the actual diversion and headgate are river right) down the tongue, stay off the left strainers and power through the holes and laterals that follow.

Diversion Dam #2
|
A much bigger, steeper drop than #1. Line is far river left - get in position as soon as you see the white sign on river right as you approach. Two part drop that can be slightly manky. At lower flows (<2,000 CFS) there are three small holes that you must bust through. At higher flows, it turns into one big hole. At all levels, the lowest hole can be sticky and, due to the first part of the drop, is often hit slightly askew. Power through and you'll be fine.

Bob

Directly under Avon Road in Avon, Bob is the center wave in the Avon Playpark. As the river turns hard left, you'll line up and see a very big crashing wave directly under the bridge. Tee it up and power through. Tons of fun!

Bob Sr.

Directly after Bob is Bob, Sr. More of a riverwide hole, this is the last feature in the playpark. Straighten yourself out after Bob and power through the hole. Good eddy service at most flows.

Diversion Dam #3
|
Shortly after going under the gondola, you'll come across two more diversion dams. You'll know you're close when the bike path on the right is open and out of the trees and you can see the Beaver Creek maintenance shed. The line is river left. Big lateral at the bottom, but nothing crazy.

Immedietely after #3 is another big diversion. Line is river right. Much bigger than #3 but has a nice tongue to blast down. Lots of fun.

Golf Course Rapid
|
After passing the golf course on the right, the river will turn hard right. Avoid the bridge in the middle of the river (wrap/pin hazard), which usually has debris stuck on it and power through some waves and holes as the river turns back left. Gets pretty pushy at higher flows.

High School Rapid

Directly under Miller Ranch Rd., this is a warmup to the Edwards Mile that's just downstream. Come around a lefthand corner and blast through some fun holes and waves. Good wake up before the bigger stuff comes shortly thereafter.

Edwards Mile
|
This is a great wave train ride for a mile or so. Lateral waves and class III to III+ depending on water level. Gets bigger and bigger until you the river abrupty widens and calms. Not a good place to swim as it's fairly continuous for a mile.
